When is a two-layer system required?

Two layers are specified for critical or buried applications such as basements, podium decks and inverted roofs, where the second layer provides redundancy and the laps are staggered.

Can a new membrane be torched over the existing one?

Only after survey. Trapped moisture, blisters and unbonded areas must be cut out; otherwise the new layer will blister. Where the existing system is saturated, it is removed.

How is the membrane protected after installation?

By a protection board, screed or insulation layer before backfill or finishes, and by a reflective or mineral-surfaced finish where it stays exposed to UV.
