What does ISO 12944 mean for my project?

ISO 12944 classifies how aggressive the environment is — from interior dry spaces through to coastal and offshore exposure — and matches it to a coating system and expected durability. UAE coastal and industrial assets typically fall in the higher corrosivity categories.

Why is surface preparation so important?

Most premature coating failures come from preparation, not the paint. Abrasive blasting to the specified cleanliness and profile, with salt and moisture checks, is what allows the coating to bond and reach its designed life.

How is coating quality verified?

Through documented checks: surface profile and cleanliness before application, ambient and dew-point readings during it, then wet and dry film thickness, holiday detection and adhesion pull-off testing afterwards.

Do you apply intumescent fire protection?

Yes. Intumescent coatings are applied to structural steel to the required fire-resistance period, with thickness recorded against the steel section and the specified rating.
