What we found on site
Podium decks above occupied retail and parking required a waterproofing system that would survive landscape installation, root penetration, and decades of hydrostatic pressure.
Programme constraints required completion before landscape and hardscape contractors mobilised — a fixed 10-week window with no opportunity for re-entry once overburden was placed.
Complex geometry: planter walls, drainage outlets, expansion joints, and irrigation penetrations all demanded detail-level engineering rather than a generic spray application.
From survey to handover
Substrate preparation
Shot-blasting to CSP 4 across the deck, with localised diamond grinding at upstands and joints. Moisture content verified below 4% before priming.
Detail-first sequence
All planter upstands, joints, drains, and penetrations were detailed with reinforced polyurea before the field application — eliminating the most common failure paths.
Pure polyurea field application
2.5 mm pure polyurea spray-applied across the deck and walls in a single continuous pass per zone, with overlap controls at zone boundaries.
Drainage composite & protection
Cuspated drainage composite + geotextile protection layer installed directly over the cured polyurea, ready to receive growing medium and hardscape.
Handover to landscape package
Joint inspection with the landscape contractor confirmed integrity before overburden placement, with the system warranty handed to facilities management.
System breakdown
Pure polyurea waterproofing
Seamless 2.5 mm membrane providing root-resistant, fully bonded waterproofing across deck, upstands, and planter walls.
Drainage composite
Cuspated HDPE drainage layer with bonded geotextile filter — discharges water to outlets and protects the membrane during landscape installation.
Engineered detail system
Reinforced polyurea details at every penetration, joint, and upstand — sequenced before field application to lock in long-term performance.
